About LogJam Sauna
What is LogJam Sauna?
LogJam Sauna is a wood-fired sauna in East Sussex, set in a cider orchard and ancient woodland at Hammond's Wood, Catsfield — offering a hidden retreat to relax, restore and connect with nature.
Our wood-fired sauna is set at the edge of a cider orchard and market garden, within 16 acres of arboretum plantations and ancient woodland near Battle.
Is the sauna wood-fired?
Yes. LogJam Sauna is heated entirely by a wood-burning stove, using home-grown firewood from the surrounding woodland and orchard. There is no electricity involved in the heating — it is a completely off-grid sauna experience.
Your hosts Joc and Ian attend to the fire throughout your session, so the sauna is already warm and ready when you arrive.
Is it a mobile sauna?
Yes. The sauna is housed in a converted horse-box trailer — a wood-fired mobile sauna set in a permanent woodland and orchard location. The horse-box conversion is what gives LogJam Sauna its character: compact, warm, and unlike any other sauna in East Sussex.

Who runs LogJam Sauna?
LogJam Sauna is run by Joc the nerdy arborist and Ian the cheery gardener — both seasoned seekers of all things sauna, hammam and hot spring. One or both will be on site throughout your session to tend the fires, serve from the kitchen, and help in any way they can.
What makes it different from a gym or hotel sauna?
Almost everything. LogJam Sauna is wood-fired and sits in the middle of a working woodland and orchard. There is no booking hall, no chlorine, no background music. Your hosts are on site the whole time, keeping the fire going and looking after you.
The cold water for the plunge pool, bath and shower comes from the land's own natural spring and reservoir. The firewood is home-grown. The teas come from seasonal crops.
